Safari and iChat

I'm experimenting with Safari and iChat tonight. I'll let you know how it turns out.

iChat is going to stay the dock. At least until Adium 2 comes out.

I'm going to give Safari a few more days. There are some things I really like about it, such as bookmark management. It's disappointing that Safari still does not support <acronym>. I'm also finding that page rendering isn't totally reliable. The browser often fails to draw the horizontal rules between posts on this site.

You need to get an iSight and iChat will definitely stay in your dock… I've been hooked since I got mine Friday at the Michigan Ave opening of the Apple Store… :)

I'd love to try iSight. Unfortunately, I'm still stuck with a dialup connection. I'll be sure to get one once I move to a place that has a high speed connection.

I really wanted to make it downtown over the weekend, but I was sick. I can't wait to see that store.

Reasons I stay with Safari: better tab implementation, better UI, snap back, google integration, and the built in spell check.

Reasons I stay with iChat AV: free phone calls, better integration with the OSX, slicker UI than Adium, doesn't crash.

I haven't had any line rendering issues with Safari and this site but the one thing that bugs me to no end is the change in the default font size with Safari. I prefer Camino when it comes to that.

Camino has a Google search box now.

I've never had problems with Adium crashing. The old iChat always crashed for me. The new one seems much more stable.

The default font size change is a good thing.

Ah but not the official build - only on more recent builds. i try to stay away from them.

Adium used to crash early and often in one of it's more recent releases (can't remember the number). iChat used to be worse but since the last update hasn't gone down yet.

I'm all for things looking consistent - but with Safari I get larger fonts than with any other browser now. That's exactly the oposite of what I'd like to see.

Am I the only one having problems with this latest build (v85)? And what's with the disturbing lack of bookmark import/export features?

Then there's the crashing. Oh, the crashing. Half the sites I visit cause it to poop out and die. Last version had the occasional snit, but this is right insane. Doesn't seem to be any particular aspect that's making it choke, either. Ah, well. I'll tough it out until the next release.

On a totally related/unrelated note… Don't suppose there's a chance iChat will ever support multiple IMs? AIM is one of the few I don't use, and multiple apps just irritate me.
