Reading between the lines
Thank you for buying this music and for supporting the artists, songwriters, musicians and others who've created it and made it possible.
We listed the artist first to make up for the fact that we, the “others”, are really making all the money.
Please remember that this recording and artwork are protected by copyright law. Since you don't own the copyright, it's not yours to distribute. Please don't use Internet services that promote the illegal distribution of copyrighted music, give away illegal copies of discs or lend discs to others for copying.
We're finally going to concede that there is such a thing as fair use. Go ahead and make copies for yourself. But we're still asking you nicely to not give the music to your friends.
It's hurting the artists who created the music.
But it's hurting the “others” even more, and we don't like that.
It has the same effect as stealing a disc from a store without paying for it.
If we keep telling you this, you'll believe it, right?
Applicable laws provide severe civil and criminal penalties for the unauthorized reproduction, distribution and digital transmission of copyrighted sound recordings.
We thanked you for giving us money. And we asked you nicely not to give our “property” away. But what we really mean to say is that we don't trust you, our valued customer, and will sue your ass if we have to.
