Fear

What's the first thing I read after getting home from watching Fahrenheit 9/11? This:

The FBI issued a warning last week for state and local authorities to be on the lookout for booby-trapped floating material in and around the nation's marinas, warning they could contain explosives.

Followed immediately by:

A homeland security official told CNN on Sunday there is “no intelligence terrorists are planning to or want to do this.”

I love this irrational fear that Bush's people are trying to drum up. I've been hearing this lately, and it really has me worried:

“Credible intelligence from multiple sources indicates that al Qaeda plans to attempt an attack on the United States during” the period leading up to the November elections, according to the statement by Attorney General John Ashcroft and Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge.

It's getting to the point where I can imagine the election being delayed because of terrorism concerns.

Delayed because of terrorism concerns or because Bush is behind in the polls that week? :)

So, did you like the movie? I wanted to see it this weekend, but everyone I asked to go with me had other plans. Either the weather outside was too nice for a movie or they think I'm too liberal.

I liked it a lot. Not much there that I didn't already know. But it's nice to see the information getting a wider audience.

For what it's worth, this is the first movie that I've been to in a long time where I wasn't annoyed by someone in the audience. And the theater was packed.

Well, he stole the election last time… He'll hijack it somehow this time. Will we be surprised? No not really.

No, no. Everything is OK. The WTC catastrophe was a long time ago and we have nothing to fear… except marshal law… which is constitutional and could have been mandated on 9/12. Just begin to read Shelby Foote's “Civil War.” Realize that the US government, as all other civilizations before us, have a duty to preserve. American Indians rose against long-time threats well before they were defeated. If you want to be the next American Indian, be my guest. I have kids. Poor, poor Saddam. Rich, rich lawyers. Stupid, stupid modern-day hippies. “We have nothing to fear.” –Famous last words of an Inca tribe member.

“You're either with us or you're with the terrorists.”

Bullshit. Disagreeing with the things our government does in the name of security does not automatically mean that I don't want our country to be secure.

I,myself, saw Micheal Moore's film;not to mention,I paid for my broke friends' tickets to do my part of supporting the film. Of course,I saw it on opening day and it was a media circus outside the movie house, here in Atlanta. I can hardly wait for the DVD to come out.

This makes me feel so much safer.

So does this.
