As soon as I win a lottery, I’ll get right on mailin’ ya one… Hell, I’d be happy with any iPod — well, except that Shuffle monstrosity. ;-)
iPod control simplicity
John Maeda makes a good case that the original iPod’s controls are superior to those on the third and fourth generation iPods. The controls on the third generation are clearly the worst. However, I’m not sure that I agree that the original is better than the fourth. This is primarily due to the fact that I haven’t actually used a fourth generation iPod yet. Hint, hint.

I agree Matt. The first and 2nd generation (the 2nd being the coolest overall design IMHO) have a better UI than the 3rd. However the simplicity o the 4th generation probably make it the easiest navigate quickly.
The backlighting on the 3rd generation is still my favorite though. The new 4th gen is almost purple where the 3rd was brilliant white. The 1st and 2nd gen also had white backlights but the quality wasn’t as good as the 3rd.
The 3rd gen will always be notable due to the red LEDs that helped with the navigation in the dark. Although it more due to addresssing the inferior UI design than it was for adding bling.
