    I wouldn’t call John Vanderslice “lo-fi” — far from it. He’s known for recording analog, though, which gives his stuff a warmth and depth that makes it hard to put next to anything else on a mix. But I would say that he and John Darnielle have a similar songwriting aesthetic (though Darnielle might be a just plain better songwriter). They’re also friends who go on tour together and play on each other’s albums.

    Also, I’m going to go see Joanna Newsom and the Handsome Family tomorrow night at the Vic! Woo!
