Gizmo <a href="http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/07/05/project_gizmo_voip/">uses an open standard called SIP</a> (via <a href="http://hardware.slashdot.org/hardware/05/07/06/1953229.shtml?tid=215&tid=1">Slashdot</a>) to ensure interoperability with other VOIP systems.</p> It looks like I missed a big difference between Gizmo and Skype.
