I love the pub theaters (i.e. Laurelhurst and McMenamins) Usually the flicks are cheaper and there's beer! :D

yeah, i hardly ever see movies when they first come out, which makes it easier.

also, for the record, i can WALK to two different beer-and-movie places. two reactions:

--WOO PORTLAND!
--when you gonna come see a movie there with me? :-)

It's very true that many folks are staying away from the theatres because of the behavior of other movie patrons. It just isn't worth it to spend close to $30 - $50 to take in a first run movie, only to have that experience lost because of noisey, careless neighbors.

I read Jenn's post before I posted but I've always been happy to let someone know that their behavior is not desired. If they wish to continue, I make it the theater's responsibility to take care of the problem. In every instance (it's not that many) the folks either shutup or the management tossed 'em.

It may sound tough but going to a movie is costly and if you sit around and add up what the theater rakes in for just one showing on one screen, it can be pretty significant. Because of this they are usually happy to oblige and take care of the problem.

Also Nancy and I usually attend rush hour movies because there is much less chance of encountering rude patrons.
