I’m certainly not religious (and I don’t necessarily agree with all that he says, either), but I think that was well stated; and cheers to Mr. Bosworth for taking a stand. We are trapped in a world run by spiteful morons who are supported by vast numbers of spineless and mindless jellyfish. I’m not sure which feeling is more overwhelming for me; whether I fear for the future as he does, or whether constant reminders of this festering farce we call society makes me physically ill.
One thing I don’t get, tho… Why did Google have to okay that publication? I don’t understand.
Because Google is the new Microsoft.
Seriously, though. Google doesn’t really get the whole blogging thing yet.
Not surprising…. And are you sure that you were joking? ;-)
I’ve written and re-written a reply to this entry many times. No matter how hard I try, it’s always long, drawn out, and could easily be construed as insulting, which I don’t wanna do. So I’ll sum it up like this:
God is much more smart than Adam Bosworth will ever be. I feel absolute sorrow for you, Matt.
Spare me the pity. I’d love to hear your argument in favor of rightist religious fanaticism.
like a previous commenter, i kept waiting for some sort of google expose and got none–so why did google have to okay it again?
To quote Mr. Bosworth:
I think that there’s a fear by big companies that if they are perceived as being critical of the government, they might lose the government’s favor when it comes to legislation, interpretation of laws, and the oh-so-lucrative government contracts. This administration has demonstrated many times that loyalty trumps everything else.
BTW, Google and NASA are best buddies now.
Also, maybe it’s not obvious that Adam Bosworth is one of the bigger brains working for Google right now.
Bosworth WORKS for Google! Why didn’t ya say so? Silly Matt. :-)
Me gets it now, huh-huh-huh. :-)
(I’ll stay out of the religious aspect of this… :-) )
Wow. Well there’s a difference between pity and sorrow, but consider it spared anyway.
I’m sorry. I guess I just don’t take it kindly when someone makes self-righteous statements like “I feel absolute sorrow for you” and doesn’t bother to explain why he feels that way. Do you feel sorrow for me because I don’t think we should be shoving “intelligent design” down kids’ throats? Is it because I don’t support “religious” fanatics who are hell-bent on killing the infidel? Is it because I don’t think Dubya is God’s messenger? What is it?
Heehee. Go, Matt! :-)
What? Self-righteous? Maybe if you could see that my nose isn’t pointed upwards in arrogance, you’d know that I’m not trying to flaunt some sort of “I know more than you do” attitude. This is only black and white text, and I’m no good at the punctuation smiley-faces like the one left by the fuckhead peanut gallery. (I have this vision of Igor, rubbing his hands, saying, “Yes, master! Yes!”)
I’ve had many a respectful religious conversation with you. However, I’m not about to continue this one in public that will serve mostly to provide entertainment to lonely onlookers. If you would care to carry on the conversation as friends, (email or otherwise) I will gladly do so. If you’re not worried about the public sphere, I’ve got no problem with continuing on down the line right here. My initial post meant only what it said. I felt sorrow in my heart. I think Bosworth is a very worldly man, and, as a friend, I think you’re all too willing to latch onto his bullshit.
Oh, by the way, intelligent design hasn’t been shoved down anyone’s throats. When there’s a parade for it, I might concede.
I’ll e-mail you.
Aww. That’s a shame. I was kinda looking forward to seeing how this debate would have evolved.
“Fuckhead peanut gallery”…? Ah. You’re that John… Well then, sorry to hear you’re not dead yet. Cheers, jackass.
Exactly.
