Laughter

We had sushi with Jeff and Nicole tonight.

Jeff and Nicole laughing

I hadn’t laughed that hard in a long time. I’m sure Jenn will write something about it tomorrow.

Tantek Çelik on using CSS hacks

Tantek Çelik has written a long but worthwhile post about using CSS hacks (via Nick Bradbury). This is essential reading for any web developer interested in web standards.

MySync

When we bought our iMac, one of the things I was really concerned about was keeping it and my PowerBook in sync. I could use .Mac, but I think it’s too expensive. So one thing I’ve been considering is writing a script that uses rsync to keep everything up-to-date. Tonight I found out about MySync (via TUAW), a free app that uses Tiger’s built-in sync engine. I’m definitely going to have to check it out, since I’d like to have my PowerBook updated when we go on vacation later this week.

Performancing for Firefox

Performancing for Firefox (via Scobleizer), an extension for Firefox (duh), allows you to post to your blog directly from your browser, much like Flock. Very cool.

This post was writting using Performancing for Firefox.

TMBG, the podcast

They Might Be Giants are podcasting (via MetaFilter). So awesome.

Ruby on Rails 1.0

Ruby on Rails 1.0 was released today. I really need to get working on learning how to use Rails.

The Moon

The Moon

I took this picture of the Moon tonight. I’m surprised it came out as well as it did, considering that I’ve almost completely forgotten how to run a camera in fully manual mode.

Swedish campgrounds and the command key

Ever wonder where the strange character used on the command key on an Apple keyboard came from? Folklore.org has the story. (via TUAW)

Battlestar Galactica added to iTunes

In October, I wrote:

I like distribution of programming via iTunes better, because it’s also portable. Now they just need to make shows I’m interested in available. Battlestar Galactica would be a good start.

Ask and you shall receive.

But since it’s now rather simple to rip DVDs for use on the video iPod (and on the computer, since I don’t have a video iPod), I think having the shows on DVD would be preferable.

Yahoo purchases del.icio.us

From the del.icio.us blog (via TechCrunch):

We’re proud to announce that del.icio.us has joined the Yahoo! family. Together we’ll continue to improve how people discover, remember and share on the Internet, with a big emphasis on the power of community. We’re excited to be working with the Yahoo! Search team - they definitely get social systems and their potential to change the web. (We’re also excited to be joining our fraternal twin Flickr!)

Congratulations to Joshua Schachter and the rest at del.icio.us.

Yahoo is looking more clued in than Google every day.
