As you may remember, the lack of task lists was my one complaint about Google Calendar. ZDNet’s Garett Rogers has done some digging in the code and discovered task lists are in the works.

Well, I think it’s time to put this weblog to bed.
I often didn’t agree with his opinions. But he rarely wrote something that wasn’t worth reading.
It seems like there’s a reassessing of blogging being done by some of the A-listers right now. Dave Winer said he’ll stop writing Scripting News by the end of the year. Robert Scoble changed his comment policy. Mark Pilgrim returned to blogging, but all the posts are of a personal nature.
What’s going on here?
This site’s post about the Jimi wallet has been dormant for a month. So I thought I’d mention that there’s a new article about the Jimi (via 43 Folders) in the New York Times Magazine.
I love the taxi wallet that I carry around now. But sometimes it’s still too big. The Jimi is now on the wish list.
From smashingpumpkins.com (thanks, Lindsey):
It’s official, The Smashing Pumpkins are currently writing songs for their upcoming album, their first since 2000. No release date has yet been set, but the band plans to begin recording this summer.
I hate to admit it, but I’m a little excited about this. Hopefully, they won’t be returning to the Machina sound.
My friend Brandi is looking for help with a book she’d like to write. You can do this by:
- Telling her the answer to: What question do you most want answered?
- Pointing to her post so more people hear about her project.
In today’s press conference, President Bush said:
I hear the voices, and I read the front page, and I know the speculation. But I’m the decider, and I decide what is best. And what’s best is for Don Rumsfeld to remain as the secretary of defense.
He finished his tantrum with, “You’re not the boss of me!” Then he scampered back into the Oval Office to play with his GI Joes.
I’ll probably be posting less frequently this week. I’m making serious changes to try to increase my productivity. Once things settle down, posting should get back to normal. Or, hopefully, better than normal.
If the changes work out, I’ll let you know what I did.
Portland has made a deal for construction of a citywide wi-fi network. It doesn’t look like they’re saying when they plan on rolling it out yet.
A short review of Google Calendar
Yesterday, Google launched Google Calendar. So far, I’m very impressed.
As far as I can tell, it does everything that Apple’s iCal does, except for to-do lists. A few things I liked:
- Importing events from an iCal file
- Each calendar generates its own iCal feed
- Notifications can be sent via pop-up, e-mail, and SMS
- You move and change the length of events by clicking and dragging
There isn’t much bad to say about the service. In about ten minutes of use, I did manage to find one display bug in the Agenda view, which was no big deal. But I was quite disappointed that they didn’t include some sort of to-do functionality. In my quest to increase the portability of my data, I was hoping to move my to-do/event list to Google Calendar. I wouldn’t be surprised to see that added at a future date.
Google Calendar has been launched. I’ll write more once I have a chance to check it out.
