Sufjan Stevens to tour this fall

For the first time in over a year, Sufjan Stevens is going on tour, bringing with him a talented group of musicians and friends including a small string ensemble and brass section. They will perform a repertoire of familiar songs from Seven Swans, Michigan and Illinois in a new symphonic context.

Awesome. He’ll be playing Portland’s Crystal Ballroom on October 13th. Jenn won’t be able to go to the show, so I’m looking for people to go with me.

Ooh! Pick me, pick me!

You’re going to be at my bachelorette party, eh? ;-)

Ouch. That’s quite a predicament.

Matt’s going to the bachelorette party?

?!

Huh?

why can’t you go to sufjan for your bachlorette party? everyone wins!

I totally thought you said surfjan. ;-)

i’m so starting a sufjan cover band called surfjan. we’ll do all his songs in the style of Man or Astroman?. who’s with me?

Oh, no! Sufjan or Jenn…Jenn or Sufjan…

…Okay, Jenn, you win this time. But you’d better not be getting married the next time he plays in Portland. ;)

This is a little off-topic, but I’ve been hearing a song for the past couple of months on ‘XRT in Chicago by Snow Patrol called Hands Open. The lyrics reference Sufjan Stevens and the song Chicago. This may be old news to you guys, but I thought you should look for it if you haven’t heard it already.

Lindsey, I’ll make it up to you. Next time he comes, we’ll go! Or how about a Decemberists show? Always a good time. :-)

Psh. The Decemberists…they’re not even cool anymore. Now that they’re on a major label. Pshaw.

Shockingly, I’m not a huge Decemberists fan. I liked them the one time I saw them, but I actually liked one of the other bands more.
