I just found out that This American Life has a podcast feed. The other day I mentioned how good the show was in a conversation, then realized that I hadn’t actually listened to it in months. It’s amazing how radically my relationship with electronic media has changed in recent months. Unless it’s a sporting event, everything I read, listen to, and watch has to be available on-demand. Otherwise, I can’t give it my attention.

I love this American Life, especially the talk by Julia Sweeney on her religious studies which boomeranged, and the Dawna Lentz story of the Quiznos that wouldn’t die. Oh yeah, and the prison convicts who put on a Shakespearean play and suddenly find they especially relate to the crime and betrayal in it.
The prisoners doing Hamlet is definitely one of my favorites. The episode entitled Fiasco is another.
When I’m not writing at work, I listen to This American Life. (In addition to the podcast, you can stream it live from the website.) I’ve listened to every episode from this year and half from last year.
Every time I hear the show, I want to switch careers and go into radio.
Oh, how I heart Ira Glass.
