I agree that Twitter doesn’t make much sense on a large scale. However, it makes a ton of sense locally. If I’m somewhere in Portland and would like to meet up with someone for dinner or drinks, it allows me to broadcast that information to everyone who is listening. It’s also a lot less intrusive than calling people up to ask if they will meet you.
Unfortunately, Twitter doesn’t really seem to be playing up the local angle. Dodgeball does, but I really don’t know anyone who uses it.

I already posted about why I think it’s an interesting tool. I’m not using Dodgeball because even friends who use text messaging a lot didn’t seem to be interested, and a three person network is a little small for it to be worthwhile.
But I like that Twitter also just gives you odd little snippets of people’s lives. “Trying to choose between Sagey and Mother Nature greens for the kitchen.” “If you can’t be pretty, be clean. If you can be pretty, be dirty. (Thot up while under gas at the dentist.)”
