I never expected that this would be the topic I write about when I start blogging again. But people are starting to ask, so I should talk about it.
At about 1 PM today, I’m going to have surgery on what is very likely testicular cancer. There is no reason to believe yet that it has spread. But we won’t know the results of the tests for about a week.
Please keep my family and medical team in your prayers.
To the men reading this: If you ever feel any discomfort down there, have it checked out immediately. Be sure to have an ultrasound and blood work done.

Matt,
We are praying hard for you and for your Dr.’s. Know that no matter what we are all here for you and your family and regardless of todays outcome (which will be benign BTW) you are not alone and can call, stop by, comandeer etc. any of us anytime for support! This is so scary but have faith all will be well. Trust in the power of prayer because many are being said for you.

Matt – I’ve known several survivors of testicular cancer. I hope the surgeons remove all of the malignant tissue and your recovery is speedy. Be strong!! – Nyco
Hey baby, You are asleep and in surgery right now but god knows you will be on your phone as soon as you come to. :) I want you to know what a fabulous husband, best friend and father you are. You are so loved. When you walk in the door after work the look on Augusts sweet face is priceless. I don’t know what I would ever do with out you because you are my better other half and I love you more than you could ever know. You are so brave!
